In this four-week intensive, students will strengthen their audition technique for television and film, musical theatre, and acting auditions. Each session builds on the previous one, giving performers practical tools, personalized coaching, and professional insight to help them grow as confident, versatile auditioners.

Session 1: TV & Film Auditions
Students will work with on-camera sides to develop audition technique for television and film. The class will focus on creating strong self-tapes, making clear acting choices, and understanding what casting professionals look for in on-camera auditions.

Session 2: Musical Theatre Auditions
Students will perform 32-bar audition cuts and receive individualized coaching on song selection, storytelling, vocal presentation, and audition technique. The goal is to help each performer make a stronger, more confident impression in the room.

Session 3: Acting & Monologue Technique
This session focuses on monologue work and audition preparation. Students will learn how to break down a monologue, make specific acting choices, and create compelling, authentic performances for auditions.

Session 4: Mock Audition with a New York Casting Director
The final class culminates in a mock audition with a New York casting director. Students will present material they have developed throughout the course and receive professional feedback in a supportive audition environment. The session concludes with an interactive Q&A covering the business, audition best practices for both in-person and self-tape auditions, and guidance on continuing professional training.

Materials Needed

  • Sheet music (in the correct key) for two musical theatre or pop/rock audition songs.
  • Students may bring their own monologues, or Broadway Workshop will provide monologue options in advance.
  • TV and film sides will be provided before the first class.

Enrollment
Enrollment is limited to 12 students to ensure individualized coaching. This is an advanced-level class designed for performers who are serious about strengthening their audition skills. Students should come prepared to receive honest, constructive feedback and professional-level coaching from Broadway Workshop faculty and industry guest artists.
