MARIA-CHRISTINA OLIVERAS has appeared on Broadway in Between Riverside and Crazy, Amelie, Machinal and Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, and starred as Persephone in the Broadway National Tour of Hadestown. Off-Broadway credits include the world premieres of Here Lies Love by David Byrne and Fat Boy Slim (The Public; cast album), Pretty Filthy by Bess Wohl and Michael Friedman (The Civilians; cast album), Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson (The Public), Romeo and Juliet (The Public), Zorba! (Encores), Taylor Mac’s 24 Hour History of Music (St. Ann’s Warehouse), among numerous others. Selected regional world premieres include Kiss My Aztec!, a new musical by John Leguizamo, Tony Taccone, Ben Velez and David Kamp (Berkeley Rep/La Jolla), Soft Power by Jeanine Tesori and David Henry Hwang (Center Theater Group), and El Huracan by Charise Castro Smith (Yale Rep). Other Regional Credits include Williamstown Theater Festival, Long Wharf, Baltimore Center Stage, O’Neill Center and ACT. Dedicated to new work, she has workshopped numerous plays and musicals for New Dramatists (Charles Bowden Award), the Lark, Page 73, Clubbed Thumb, NYTW, Atlantic, Playwrights Realm, among others. Film and television credits include St. Vincent, Manhattan Night, “Blue Bloods,” “NCIS:NOLA,” “The Blacklist,” “Madame Secretary,” and “Law & Order: SVU”. She received her B.A. from Yale University, and her MFA in Acting from the National Theatre Conservatory.
A highly esteemed educator, she has taught at Yale University, Fordham University, Primary Stages, Stella Adler Conservatory, and frequently serves as a guest artist for numerous organizations, including Broadway Workshop, Princeton University and Kenyon College. Maria-Christina currently teaches Acting as Assistant Professor of Theater at Wesleyan University and Visiting Professor of Musical Theater at Yale University. She is also the founder of (in)spira, Associate Artist and Board Member of The Civilians, and member of The Actors’ Center.
